B Local PDX Announces Wes Griffin as Executive Director
B Local PDX, a leading nonprofit dedicated to advancing the B Corp movement and using business as a force for good, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Wes Griffin as its first Executive Director.
Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies verified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet high levels of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. With over 150 B Corps in Oregon and southwest Washington, B Local PDX is the 4th largest B Local region in the US & Canada and the largest per capita. Its companies come from all sectors and range from small and family businesses to iconic PNW brands. Griffin will lead the B Local PDX Board of Directors in its work to create opportunities for B Corps, grow their collective impact, and build a thriving ecosystem of purpose-driven organizations.
“Wes Griffin brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to B Local PDX,” said Anna Madill, the organization’s Board Chair. “We are excited for Wes and look forward to the innovative approaches and leadership he will continue to bring to our mission of creating boundless opportunities for the regional B Corp community!”
Griffin has guided B Local PDX to significant membership growth for the past two years as Administrative Director and helped expand its programs and resources. Its signature annual event, BLD PNW (B Corp Leadership Development Pacific Northwest), brings together hundreds of B Corp leaders, nonprofit partners, students, and movement advocates to share best practices and spark new collaborations. All B Local PDX events support strong business outcomes for B Corps and are framed around the impact pillars of racial equity, climate justice, and a stakeholder-driven economy.
Throughout his career, Griffin has worked at the intersection of nonprofit leadership and business development. Before moving to Portland in 2021, he spent a decade as Director of Restores for Habitat for Humanity affiliates along the Gulf Coast in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. In this role, he revitalized operations, trained teams, opened new locations, and strengthened the donor base. While ReStores are often viewed as funding sources for Habitat’s home building projects, Griffin positioned them as a primary way to achieve the nonprofit’s mission, providing materials often bound for the landfill at affordable prices to low-income residents who need critical repairs.
“I love helping groups reimagine their collective identity and potential impact. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the region understood the economic and human importance of rebuilding with dignity, and consumer choices seen through that lens became simple. The combination of people, place, and purpose was really special,” Griffin said.
“I feel the same way about B Corps in the Pacific Northwest. We protect our lands and waters, practice radical inclusion, and endeavor to benefit all of our stakeholders. As more people seek meaningful work and lose patience with corporate washing, our purpose and transparency set us apart. Just as our region is known for being progressive and experimental, B Local PDX is at the forefront of creating an equitable and regenerative economy. The opportunities here are boundless.”
Griffin will continue to be a frontline connection and steward for regional B Corps as his role evolves.
